From 2-5 December 2019, the ICEDIG consortium met for the last time this year for an All Hands project meeting in Heerhugoward, NL, hosted by Picturae. The participants discussed the progress and met for task-oriented work meetings. On of the important discussions taking place was centred around a presentation on the envisioned digital object infrastrcuture for digital specimens.
Liekwise, our colleagues from Pictuare not only showed us some impressive digitisation work stations, but also detailed their work for both, the European Loans and Visits system ELViS which they are developing under the auspices of SYNTHESYS+ and the connection between the NSIDR DiSSCo digital specimen repository and their Memorix collection management system.
A large part of the meeting were occupied by important discussions about what results of ICEDIG can be used in what way by DiSSCo, e.g. Open Access implementation guidelines for DiSSCo or recommendations for the mass imaging of pinned insects. To that end, ICEDIG will deliver in March 2020 a design blueprint which gathers all ideas and recommendations from ICEDIG to DiSSCo, ensuring the exploitation of the Horizon 2020 project results.
On behalf of all participants, we wish to extend our most sincere thanks to the Picturae team for the flawless organization of this event.
