On Tuesday 11 September ESFRI officially introduced DiSSCo on the 2018 European roadmap as a priority Research Infrastructure during the Launch Ceremony at the Aula der Wissenschaften in Vienna. This is a huge milestone for European natural science Collections as the ESFRI Roadmap identifies new Research Infrastructures (RI) of pan-European interest corresponding to the long term needs of the European research communities.
DiSSCo represents an agreement between European natural history institutions with 115 partners from 21 countries joining forces to transform European natural science collections into a new distributed scientific infrastructure.
DiSSCo coordinator Dimitris Koureas presented the DiSSCo project (see picture). Ana Casino (CETAF) and Leif Schulman (Finnish Museum of Natural History - LUOMUS) attended as representatives of ICEDIG, the design study project for DiSSCo.
